(13:56 EP, ‘Revivor’)
REVIVOR is an Irish trio, comprised of Bill Vail on bass and vocals, Des Doherty on guitar and Micky Kerr on drums. The press kit of this 14-minute EP, “Voire Dire”, says it’s their latest outing, marking a completely new approach to their sound, but keeps silence regarding anything that concerns their previous phase of work – which makes me think it’s their first release. There are four tracks here. The first of them is simplistic, vocal-heavy, radio-friendly AOR, while the others are conventional Hard Rock in style. The music is rather straightforward (verse/chorus/a short instrumental interlude, et cetera), save that on the record’s concluding piece, on which the guys sound a bit like Nazareth circa “Rampant” – with the exception of vocals, which are monotonous and generally unimpressive, as they are everywhere on the EP. As it’s stated in our contact section, we only accept recordings that are longer than 30:00 in length. I could write the guys and note that they should have read its guidelines before submitting their EP for review, etc, but I didn’t, as they have paid for sending it.
