RECORDING COMPANIES:

Luna Negra Records
(Mexico) / Agst 27, 2006

New releases:

  • Amarok (Spain) - "Retrospectiva"
  • Amarok - "Sol de Medianoche"
  • Jose Luis Fernandez & Margarita Botello (Mexico) - "La Paciencia de Job"
  • Ebb-And-Flow (Spain) - "The Mask"
  • Marooned (Spain) - "The Dream Reaver"
  • Parthenon (Venezuela) - "Mare Tenebris" reissue

Amarok: Two CDs will be released this autumn. Catalonia-based symphonic progressive band Amarok is regarded as one of the best live acts at various festivals around the world (Prog Day -USA, Baja Prog - Mexico, Gouveia - Portugal, as well as many others in Spain). With their unique sound mixing top-notch technologies with ancient Turkish/Middle East instruments and beautiful female vocals, Amarok will soon be back with two new CDs: "Retrospectiva" ("Retrospective") and "Sol de Medianoche" ("Midnight Sun"). The former is a compilation, which includes some of their best tunes and some unreleased and live tracks as well. A perfect introductory CD for those new to this band and a must have for the fans. The latter is a new studio CD, a classic for the future.

Jose Luis Fernandez Ledesma & Margarita Botello: Jose Luis Fernandez Ledesma is one of the biggest names in the Mexican progressive / experimental rock, and Margarita Botello has a wonderful mezzo soprano voice. They've just released their new CD "La Paciencia de Job", which is in the vein of "Al Filo".

Ebb-And-Flow: have their first CD "The Mask" ready. The music is both powerful and romantic. Imagine Sagrado Coracao da Terra, Halloween and Jadis playing Camel.

Marooned: Also a debut CD, "The Dream Reaver", a kind of Spanish answer to Twelfth Night with the influences of Pink Floyd and Van der Graaf Generator.

Parthenon: The reissue of "Mare Tenebris" will be on the streets next month, re-packaged and with improved sound quality. This is 70's progressive rock full of vintage analog keyboards and complex melodies, the CD featuring members of Amarok.

    Forthcoming releases:

Psycotropia (Spain): A new release (CD + DVD) from this power trio is expected soon. The NTSC DVD includes the highlights of the band's recent shows in Madrid and some extra material. For fans of King Crimson and beyond.

Negua (Spain) are working on their new CD "A Way Out", featuring also members of Unoma and Dracma. Neo prog with a harder edge; appeals to fans of Rush, Iluvatar and Knight Area.

Saena (Mexico): Jose Luis Fernandez Ledesma and friends (including ex-Decibel/Nazca violin player Alejandro Sanchez, ex-Nirgal Vallis bass player Hugo Santos, drummer Adrian Zarate and vocalist Margarita Botello, of course) will start recording their first CD next month in Jose's studio in Mexico City.

    Progrock Records
    (USA) / Agst 27, 2006

    New releases:

  • Prymary (USA) - "The Tragedy Of Innocence"
  • Guy Manning (UK) - "Anser's Tree"

Prymary is a Progressive Rock/Metal band from Southern California. "The Tragedy Of Innocence" is their second album. The story is based on real events and tells the story of a young woman who must deal with abuse, and how those events steer her towards a chaotic adult life. Musically, it is some of the most adventurous music the band has ever composed. The music runs the range from heavy to light in order to capture the emotions of the story.

Guy Manning's new (his eighth) album traces the history of one family told though the eyes of their last descendent, searching on the 'last remaining hill' to discover the secrets of his own past and uncover the Universal patterns that surround us all. The styles range from swirling acoustic numbers similar to his debut album to more complex ensemble arrangements reminiscent. Guy, as a multi-instrumentalist, plays most of the instruments himself, but once again, this album features the same core of talented musicians that have helped Guy both craft his music into complete albums and to perform them live (since 2000).

    F2 Music
    (UK) / Agst 27, 2006

    New releases:

  • Magenta with Annie Haslam (UK) - "Night and Day"
  • Chimpan A (UK) - "Chimpan A"

The collaboration with Annie Haslam "Night and Day" has arrived. This four track EP contains three versions of the song written by Rob and Christina especially for Annie, plus a lovely instrumental written and performed by Rob called Essence of Love. The Annie Haslam painting of the same name, which adorns the cover of the single, inspired this piece. The song also features the entire Magenta live band plus a stunning contribution from Troy Donockley (Iona) on Uilleann pipes and whistles. Track listing: 1) Night and Day (lead vocal by Annie), 2) Night and Day (evening mix), 3) Essence of Love, 4) Night and day (duet with Christina of Magenta). The EP costs just GBP 4.00 (including postage to anywhere in the world) and can be purchased from Progrock UK.

Chimpan A is a new project co-written, performed, produced and engineered by Rob Reed which also features the vocal talents of Steve Balsamo (The Storys, Jesus Christ Superstar) and Rob Thompson (The Storys) on guitar. The CD also features vocals from Christina (Magenta), Sam Brown (David Gilmour, Jools Holland, solo) and well-known Welsh classical soprano Shan Cothi. London-based poet Tony Dallas also contributes some remarkable spoken word passages. The band has made innovative use of samples from Mike Oldfield's Tubular Bells and the choral work of British composer John Tavener and while the project is very different to Magenta - it should appeal to anyone who enjoys Massive Attack, Peter Gabriel, Zero 7, Bjork or Jakatta particularly. You can hear samples of the CD here and complete songs here. The Chimpan A official website is now up and running. The CD costs GBP 10.00 and can be purchased from Progrock UK.
