Ozric Tentacles

The famous psychedelic rock band Ozric Tentacles, has announced an all-new double CD and vinyl album set, “Technicians of the Sacred”, to be released via Madfish Music on May 11, 2015, in UK, May 22 in Europe and May 26 in North America. This will be the first Ozric Tentacles double album since the classic “Erpland” over 20 years ago. “Technicians of the Sacred” is an original sojourn to the world of Ozrics. Richly layered, evocatively ambient, and ethereal musical landscapes, seamlessly morphing through beatific freeform dub trips, incredible rave grooves, and psychedelic progressive rock, create a heady, kaleidoscopic mixture of tones and textures. The aesthetics of the album are themed in Mayan Astrology. In support of this epic 90-plus minute offering, Ozric Tentacles will kick off its tour dates through Europe and the UK on April 25, with its first performance in Warsaw, Poland. Another first on the tour will be Belgrade, Serbia. The tour will continue through May, before arriving stateside in June for a run of festivals and club performances. Tracklisting: CD I: 1. Through four decades of adversity and triumph, Pentagram has become a legendary international act and has firmly stamped its name in the heavy metal history books. “All Your Sins – Video Vault”, the first-ever official Pentagram video collection, recovers, repairs and resurrects the earliest known footage of the first doom metal band to come out of America and more. Two DVDs packed with priceless archive footage, as well as recent shows, “All Your Sins” unearths the rumored lost visual evidence pent up in the Ram Family vault for decades. This definitive collection contains over seven hours of footage from nine venues and numerous historical shows, including a charged performance at the legendary CBGB's club in 1985 – a mass of classic renditions from the band's catalog finally gathered together for a live journey spanning over 30 years. Mandala is a progressive folk rock band from London, UK. Eighteen years in the making, their debut album “Midnight Twilight is an original combination of Western and Eastern folk music, mixed with heavier forms of progressive rock, and smothered in an early-‘70s production glow. Mandala was formed in 1997, but after playing hundreds of concerts across Europe and North America, they disbanded in 2006 without recording an album. Reunited in 2014, the band finally recorded its debut album (featuring 10 songs written between 1997 and ‘05). Line-up: Rhys Marsh - vocals, guitar, sitar, el. piano, Mellotron; Francis Booth – bass; Will Spurling – drums, tablas, percussion; with: Anna Giddey – violin; Natalie Rozario – cello; Peter Keserue – harmonium.     The British heavy metal legend Tank returns in June with their tenth studio album titled “Valley of Tears”.

    The Polish rock band Mr. Pollack has recently teamed with Metal Mind Productions, which will result in the official release of the album "Black Hawk" on May 25, 2015, in Europe and on June 9 in USA (via MVD).

    "The Kindest of Deaths", the brand new studio album by a southern metal band JD Overdrive, has been released in Europe, while in North America, it will be out on May 5 (via MVD).

    The Polish rock/metal band Cochise will enter tomorrow The Rolling Tapes Studio to record material for the follow-up of their “118” album. New material entitled "The Sun also Rises for Unicorns" contains 13 new tracks. The record is scheduled for release in early October via Metal Mind.

    Latest news:

    Great news for the fans of the new exciting project WAMI. The band’s debut album “Kill the King” has been released on vinyl.

    Metal Mind re-releases selected albums taken from the Nuclear Blast’s archives. These are: Graveworm – “Engraved In Black”, “(N)Utopia”, Hackneyed – “Burn After Reaping”, “Death Prevails”, Psycroptic – “Ob(servant)”, Pungent Stench – “Ampeauty”, Arsis – “We Are The Nightmare” and Augury – “Fragmentary Evidence”. All albums are re-released on Golden Discs, limited and numerated to 2000 copies. In North America, the re-issues will be available from May 5th (via MVD).

  • Magic Pie – “King for a Day”

    The Norwegian prog rock band Magic Pie is finally back with their brand new album “King For A Day” on Karisma Records on May 25, 2015. Magic Pie has become a household name for progfans around the world with their blend of classic prog and ‘70s hard rock, inspired by bands such as Spocks Beard, Dream Theater, Genesis, Pink Floyd, The Flower Kings, Transatlantic, Kansas, Deep Purple, Yes etc. Fronted by bandleader Kim Stenberg, the band is known for their epic, energetic, melodic and sometimes heavy prog rock with splendid vocal harmonies and great musicianship. One of the six tracks that the album is made up of is a 28-minute suite (title track).
    Hailing from Moss, Norway, the band consists of songwriter and producer Kim Stenberg (guitars, vocals), lyricist and co-writer Eirikur Hauksson (lead vocals, guitar), Eirik Hanssen (vocals, guitar), Jan Torkild Johannessen (drums), Erling Henanger (keyboards, backing vocals) and Lars Petter Holstad (bass, backing vocals).
    The band was formed in 2001, and their previous three albums, “Motions of Desire” (2005), “Circus of Life” (2007) and “The Suffering Joy” (2011), were very well received by the press and fans alike. All these three albums will be re-issued by Karisma Records later this autumn on both CD and vinyl (for the first time).

  • Gavin Harrison – “Cheating the Polygraph”

    “Cheating the Polygraph”, the brand new solo album by Gavin Harrison (King Crimson, (Porcupine Tree), has been released. This is an ambitious project, which sees the restlessly creative Harrison re-imagine eight Porcupine Tree songs in a set of vivid and vibrant new arrangements that give full, free rein to his inquiring musical mind. The eight tracks which comprise the album were recorded over a five-year period, with Harrison working in conjunction with a crew of some of the finest contemporary musicians, including the gifted saxophonist Nigel Hitchcock and bass player Laurence Cottle (ex-The Alan Parsons Project, Black Sabbath).
